Mr. Katz trained under Major Deszo Sziliagy from 1974-1983 in Dressage and Eventing. He continued to  compete in various equestrian disciplines including dressage, three-day eventing, show jumping and endurance from 1974-1993.

He has been a Licensed Thoroughbred Owner and Trainer since 1985. As a result of being licensed he has raced thoroughbreds in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia.

Mr. Katz has been active in thoroughbred racing at Delaware Park, Philadelphia Park,  Penn National, Pimlico, Laurel, Monmouth Park, The Meadowlands, Atlantic City and Colonial Downs since 1985.

Gary Katz has been practicing law since 1979 and is admitted to practice law in the states of California, Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His Law Practice has been involved mostly with civil litigation.

But he has also represented horsemen in the area of equine law with regard to various types of litigation as well as being involved in the formation of racing partnerships and syndications in various jurisdictions including, but not limited to, providing legal representation in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, California, South Carolina, Delaware, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Nevada, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia and Indiana.

Mr. Katz has represented numerous clients in stewards' and racing commission hearings in various racing jurisdictions as well as in hearings before the United States Equestrian Federation.

Gary Katz authored the "EQUINE LEGAL HANDBOOK" published by Half-Halt Press, Inc. copyright 1993. The revised edition 2001. It is a book of easy to use legal contracts for horsemen.

Gary Katz has a special interest in all legislative actions regarding racing in various racing  jurisdictions, medication rules and the safety of racing surfaces.
